Six the musical show week

Monday 14th November

Today was a tech rehearsal which we all knew was mainly for the technicians to help them out to make sure all of the cues and lighting is correct for the actual show and to give them a full practice run. This also meant it was a very stop and start day so we didn’t really do a full run through, however it was very helpful for us to as it aloud is to keep going back and going over things in order to make them more precise each time as-well as learning our spacing and when and where we needed to be in the lighting. This rehearsal made me realize that I need to project more, especially in ex-wives. I feel that I need to make sure my breath control needs to be a lot stronger as I get breathy and off pitch while dancing during this number, although I do feel I have majorly improved on this since my first rehearsals.

I also feel that I have improved on my breathe control and stamina during House of Holbein as I sounded a lot better after I had been practicing, I felt I was using diction when singing the chorus. The 'oo yah' parts of the songs where really projected and once again matched the chaotic nature of this song.

Tuesday 15th November

Today was our full dress rehearsal which was very exiting as we were finally able to put all of our outfits and jewelry together as-well as covering our self's in loads of glitter and doing our hair.

I think my volume during ex-wives was a lot better as I definitely projected more and used my diction during the chorus. I also think my breath control was a lot more effective when singing and dancing at the same time. I wasn't breathy or having to miss lyrics because I was out of breath, I made sure to regulate my breathing to make sure I could sing the choruses with projection and power.

Wednesday 16th November

Today was our first show to a live audience and it was a full audience. At first I was very nervous was I was worried I would mess up in-front of everyone but once I was out there and enjoying myself I didn’t think about any of those things and I felt a lot more confident the whole way through. I think the run through overall was strong however I found myself not fully singing the middle harmony during ex-wives as got slightly out of breathe, I’m order to improve on this I will go other all the harmonies to ensure I am singing them correctly so that doesn’t effect my breathe control.

I think over all this was a successful first show however I do believe I could have done a lot better and will definitely improve and put myself more out there in the next show and fully go for it.

Thursday 17th November - Friday 18th November

Over these two days we performed 4 shows to live, public audiences.

Although the ensemble had a lot more movement components to singing, I felt our singing as a group really came together I feel We were all projecting especially in ex-wives, I felt our voices sounded very powerful together in a big group.

Another thing I noticed on the second show of the first night the improvement of House of Holbein. I felt we all sang the harmonies on 'Nein' really strongly. We were all also adding a lot of characterization to our voices to match the humorous vibe of this overall number. We all sounded very sharp and put together and I felt my breath control had improved for this number.

Get down was a song that I felt needed a lot more projection however I felt on the second show of the first night, we all started to really project and add articulation to the parts we were all singing, once again adding a lot of characterization.

Overall, I think looking back on these logs, I have improved my singing as an ensemble member and will use these skills through the course and wherever I go next.
