six rehearsals-week 1
First rehearsal progress
During the first week of six rehearsals, we spent Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th of September going over 5 main songs which included "Ex Wives", "Ex Wives Repertoire" " Heart of Stone" "Don't Lose Your Head" and "No Way".
Over the past two weeks we have started learning and refining the first song in the show ' Ex Wives' as a class, we have to master singing and dancing at the same time as the show is a musical and needs to be as effective as possible. As a class we definitely have to work on keeping our projection consistent while singing as well as our timing together. we also have to really start refining the words to make this easier for ourselves. I personally think we all connect as one when it comes to the dance aspects but when singing were in our own little separate groups of low, middle and high and seem to not work as hard together, I feel we need to understand where the harmonies come in to create an effective sound all together as a cohort. I think at the main choruses our sound is strong, our diction and pitching is good and clear we just once again need to keep it up with the dance elements and make it big as its the opening to the whole show.
we then worked on and started to learn the harmonies to "Heart of Stone.". I feel this is such a lovely song and Ella performs it amazingly, it has such passion and emotion all the way through and really shows the story of Jane Seymour. Because of how amazing this song is I feel that us as an ensemble need to make sure we really portray that emotion just as much as the dancers.
